UMS has launched a Sydney office as it continues to help Australian companies grow their brands in China.
The Sydney office comes 18 months after the independent agency opened its Melbourne office and follows increasing demand from local companies looking to increase brand awareness and sales in the lucrative China market.
UMS has appointed Amit Moorjani as Business Development Director for the Sydney office. Amit has previously worked in business development roles for Experian, Marketo, Sitecore, IPMG and Val Morgan.
Amit will be the key contact in the UMS Sydney office, responsible for assisting UMS Australia’s new business activities and will work closely with the UMS teams in Melbourne and Auckland to ensure an integrated approach to the Australian and New Zealand business.
Jessica Miao, Chief Executive Officer, UMS, said, “Sydney is a key market for UMS’ Australia expansion, and it has always been our intention to open an office here as soon as it made sense. As a major business centre, where many companies are based, it is important for us to have a presence in this market so we can better serve our local clients.”

“We are very excited to open our doors in Sydney and to provide more Australian marketers and companies with our China market knowledge and expertise to help them to connect and engage with Chinese consumers,” said Miao.
Amit will also be responsible for growing UMS’ data solutions and CRM management services across the agency.
“As social media in China becomes more of a social ecosystem that includes content, data, e-commerce and payment, we are working to help our clients to better understand Chinese consumers in order to optimize their digital marketing services. Amit’s experience and knowledge in this area will add value to UMS existing services and enable us to ramp up our data solutions,” said Miao.
Amit Moorjani, Business Development Director, UMS, said, “Having seen what UMS have been doing in this market I am thrilled to be joining the team.
“I’ve spent a lot of time within the data marketing space and I am hoping to help clients understand how to best use data in the Chinese social media world. Not only for execution but also in terms of understanding why this data is important and how to best manage it and use it for future growth and success.”
The Sydney office marks the fifth location for UMS, which also has offices in Auckland, Melbourne, Ningbo and Shanghai. The Sydney office will operate with a similar structure to UMS Melbourne and UMS Auckland, which serve as Client Services hubs supported by Account Management, Strategic, Creative, Digital and Data Services, which are serviced in the Shanghai and Ningbo offices.
